Inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, metabolic syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases and anxiety can be managed using diet/herbs, ensuring proper sleep and implementing lifestyle practices to calm the nervous system and bring the system back to balance.
Drink
Golden milk
1/2 tsp organic high quality turmeric
1 cup of milk/nut milk
1/2 a pinch of black pepper
Maple syrup/honey to taste
In a saucepan, add the milk, turmeric and black pepper
Heat the milk on a low to medium heat- takeoff stove before it boils!
Add Maple syrup to taste or allow to cool and add honey
Lunch
Quinoa and Roasted Vegetable salad
2 cups of quinoa (washed and drained)
2 tbls of coconut oil
3 cloves of garlic
1 onion
sweet potatoes/pumpkin/carrot chopped for roasting
2 tsp of cumin seeds
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp of paprika
sprig of rosemary
Serve with fresh spinach and herbs- basil and mint
Add chopped vegetables to a bowl season with oil and cumin, rosemary and paprika- mix and coat well
Place in a roasting pan and cook on 180-200 degrees celcius for 45 mins or until golden
In a pot add quinoa, enough water to cover, turmeric and coriander powder cook for 20mins
When ready allow to cool
Combine roast veg, fresh herbs, spinach and quinoa in large salad bowl garnish with fresh lime and serve
Dinner
Spiced red Lentil and Turmeric soup
2 tblsp ghee
1 clove of garlic
2 tsp turmeric
2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cardamom
375ml coconut milk
1 cup red lentils (soaked and drained)
1 cup baby spinach
1 squeezed lime
Heat ghee add cumin and garlic and sauté
Add red lentils, coconut milk, water, salt and pepper, add turmeric, cinnamon and cardamom,
Bring to boil then to medium heat and simmer for 20 minutes
Add spinach and lime to serve
