The leaves start to change colour and fall as temperatures cool. Autumn is Vata time in Ayurveda. It is the Metal element and time of the Lungs in Chinese Medicine.

 
 

Autumn brings cooler, windier days as the change from summer arrives the gunas of dryness, cold, mobile energies prevail. Favouring oilier, grounding and warmth.

Daily practices

 

Abhyunga with Black Sesame oil is one of the best ways to nourish Vata dosha. Black sesame oil has a nourishing and calming effect on the central nervous system and sensory neurons located on the skin.

Keep warm! Vata season is known for its changeability. Layer up with warm clothes, make fires in the afternoon and evening and bathe in the sun when it is out.

Favor warm foods and drinks- soups, grains, roasted vegetables think grounding and nourishing.
